KTX vs SRT in 2026: Integration, Stations and Tickets

Information reviewed: 11 October 2026. Check fares, schedules and seat availability for your travel date and confirm the issued ticket.

The cover is an original planning diagram for this guide, not a photograph or a station floor plan.

Planning travel in 2026? Read older KTX–SRT comparisons alongside the current operator notices and choose the actual train and station for your journey.

What changed in September 2026

SR’s dated notice says the former SRT services were integrated into KTX from 1 September 2026. It directs passengers to KORAIL+ or KORAIL channels for services including departures from Suseo. An older “KTX versus SRT” comparison is therefore a historical starting point, not a reliable description of today’s separate booking systems.

What still matters when choosing a train

Seoul Station and Suseo remain different places. Compare the station-to-hotel journey, your travel date, the actual train number, stopping pattern, seat class and total amount. Integration does not make station names interchangeable or allow a ticket for one departure to be used on any other train.

Check the current booking channel

Use the current operator notice and train search for your date. The notice says normal SRT app and website services ended on 31 August 2026, with temporary limited guest booking retained. Do not build a future journey around the continued availability of a legacy app. Check your account and ticket through the channel used for the purchase.

Refunds and changes

Read the current conditions attached to the exact ticket. The operator notice applies KORAIL’s passenger conditions from 1 September, but an independent seller’s service fee and handling process need a separate check. Contact the seller that issued your ticket; do not assume an operator cancellation schedule describes all third-party charges.

KORAIL Pass: verify the actual service

Older pass guidance still lists SRT exclusions. Do not infer pass eligibility for a former-SRT service merely from its new KTX label, and do not treat an old brand exclusion as conclusive for every current departure. Use the current pass reservation flow or obtain KORAIL confirmation before buying the pass for that journey.

Booking through KoreaTrain

KoreaTrain is an independent booking service using Korail searches and manual ticket fulfilment. Only the services actually offered for your selected date are available through this flow. A payment receipt is not the issued railway ticket. Wait for the ticket, then confirm the station, train number, departure time and any seat assignment.

FAQ

Are KTX and SRT still separate booking choices?

SR announced integration into KTX from 1 September 2026 and directs travellers to KORAIL+ and KORAIL channels. Choose by the actual station and train, not an outdated brand split.

Does integration make Seoul Station and Suseo interchangeable?

No. They remain separate stations; travel to the departure station printed on your issued ticket.

Can I use my ticket on a different departure?

Do not assume so. Follow the specific train, route, date and conditions of your ticket.

Are all former-SRT trains covered by KORAIL Pass?

This guide does not establish that. Check the exact service through current pass reservations or KORAIL before purchase.
