KOREATRAIN / Useful information

Cancellation, Changes and Refunds

KoreaTrain is operated by WISE UP LIMITED, a Hong Kong company. Contact address: Unit 1707, 17/F The Galaxy, 313 Castle Peak Road, Kwai Hing, New Territories, Hong Kong. Contact: support@koreatrain.com. KoreaTrain is an independent booking platform and is not the railway operator. All train dates and service deadlines use Korea Standard Time (Asia/Seoul, UTC+9).

If we cannot issue your requested ticket because no ticket is available, we refund the full amount paid for the unfulfilled ticket booking, including amounts we charged for that booking. Payment does not reserve a railway seat. Do not travel until you receive an issued ticket.

For an issued standard Korail ticket, we assess the applicable railway cancellation band at the time we receive a complete request during our manual service hours plus two hours. A request submitted outside these hours is queued until 08:00 KST; its fee-band assessment starts from that next opening time, not the overnight submission time. This is our manual-processing buffer: every railway time-band boundary is two hours earlier for requests to KoreaTrain. The final request deadline is two hours before the ticketed departure. Submission is a request, not confirmation that the ticket has been cancelled or changed. The applicable cancellation deduction and refund amount will be confirmed before processing. We do not add a separate service fee or payment-processing fee.

Standard railway reference, evaluated at the effective processing time above: Monday–Thursday (excluding public holidays), cancellation up to three hours before departure has no railway penalty; later pre-departure cancellation has a 5% railway penalty. Friday–Sunday and public holidays: up to the end of two calendar days before departure, the minimum railway penalty is KRW 400 per ticket (any eligible purchase-within-seven-days waiver is checked against the railway conditions); the day before departure, 5%; departure day up to three hours before departure, 10%; later before departure, 20%. Calendar-day boundaries use Korean local dates. For percentage-based bands, apply the cancellation percentage to the actual amount paid for the affected ticket. For the railway minimum KRW 400 band, first determine the cancellation deduction as a proportion of the original railway fare in KRW, then apply that same proportion to the amount actually paid for the affected ticket; confirm the resulting refund amount before processing. Round the final refund once to the payment currency’s minor unit, without exceeding the amount paid.

After applying the two-hour buffer, the three-hour railway boundary becomes five hours before departure, and the railway departure cutoff becomes two hours before departure. Example: for a weekday 14:00 departure, the no-railway-penalty request boundary is 09:00 and the final request deadline is 12:00. At exactly a deadline we follow the included/excluded boundary of the applicable railway rule; please submit earlier to allow complete information to be received.

Requests within two hours of departure or after departure are outside KoreaTrain's manual acceptance window. This does not state that all legal rights or any railway refund rights disappear: contact support promptly for any operator disruption or other rights that may apply. Do not assume a station can refund a ticket bought through an intermediary.

Changes require a complete request before the same applicable cutoff. Availability, ticket restrictions, railway change/cancellation deductions and any fare difference must be checked. A submitted request does not guarantee a new train or seat. We will confirm the available option and amount before making a chargeable change. Special holiday, promotional, group, pass and other restricted products may have separate conditions; the conditions disclosed for the actual ticket govern. This standard table is not an offer to sell those products.

Refunds are returned through the original payment method where supported. Bank or payment-provider posting time may vary. We do not promise an unverified delivery time or a fixed exchange rate. For railway cancellation/disruption, mandatory passenger rights and the applicable operator arrangements remain available.

The displayed ticket price is all-in. We do not add a separate service fee or payment-processing fee. The total displayed before payment is the amount payable. For an eligible issued-ticket refund, the applicable refund percentage is applied to the amount actually paid for the affected ticket, including the markup; the markup is not retained as a separate non-refundable fee. For example, a 20% cancellation deduction means an 80% refund of the amount paid. No available ticket means a 100% refund of the full amount paid for that unfulfilled booking.

Our manual ticket-issuance and change/refund support hours are 08:00–24:00 Korea Standard Time (UTC+9). Requests submitted from 00:00 to 08:00 are queued for the next service period; submission does not mean the ticket has been changed or cancelled. Please allow both the manual-processing buffer and the service hours when requesting a time-sensitive change or refund.
